Insurance update: After talking to many people this morning, we are still waiting for an

answer. Although I was told last night by my insurance company that they had

everything they need to make a decision, I was told by the two case managers (Broward

Health and Shirley Ryan) last night and this morning that insurance was asking for

updated OT/PT notes. For some reason Alyson dropped off the OT/PT list so was not seen

yesterday. OT came this morning and did their evaluation, PT is to come this afternoon.

The OT guy here said that patients usually stay in the hospital for a month before they

go to rehab. The Shirley Ryan case manager says there is nothing medically holding her

back, and she's making small improvements every day so she is ready for acute rehab.

He also said they see them 2-3 weeks after injury so Alyson is in that range. I did find

out that Shirley Ryan doesn't even have a bed for her until tomorrow / Wednesday, so I

guess we weren't going anywhere yet. Would have been good to know! If a decision to

go is made by 4pm today, we can probably head to Chicago tomorrow since the air

ambulance is close by in Atlanta, otherwise we do the transfer on Thursday.

Now for the more important update... Alyson continues to make small improvements.

Her blood pressure didn't drop too much while sitting up for at least 5 minutes with some

support, but she did get nauseated with a little blurred vision and headache. She's going

to try to sit at 60 degrees for 2 hours this afternoon. She seems to do good in the chair,

but we make the upright position changes slowly, versus being at 30-45 degrees and jumping to sitting up on her own. They are supposed to bring in a temporary overhead

support to put over her bed so she can pull herself up and move around. Hopefully this

happens. Alyson's right leg is coming along, starting to imitate what her left leg was

doing last week. Dr. Roberts (Neurosurgeon) did say that her right side took a bigger hit

so this is expected.

This morning Alyson got to meet the Resident who assisted and closed on both of her

surgeries. He was happy to meet her awake, and hear about the movement with her left

toes and leg. He removed the bandage on the back of neck incision, said it was healing

good.

Thank you again for being such awesome prayer warriors on this journey with us!
