Happy New Year! Here's to a year of continued recovery!

Alyson is becoming quite the standing and walking machine! She stands as much as she

can and is walking more each day at home. To be clear, standing is not free standing.

She is leaning or holding onto something. Walking is always using the stand up walker

with me behind her, but she is getting more independent with this now that she has

some movement of her right leg. Last Thursday evening we went to some Christmas Popup

bars downtown. I've attached a picture of Alyson standing by herself at a rooftop bar,

and then also for our family pic. She stood for awhile during her photo-op, and sat on a

bar stool instead of her wheelchair. On Friday the family she used to nanny for came to

visit and brought a delicious cake and brownies made by Wells (10 yo). When Alyson

walked then we noticed that she is starting to bend her right knee and lift up her right

leg, walking more normal. Her leg tires quickly so it's only about 5 steps max like that.

Today she walked all day at home from the time we got home from Church until she

went to bed. Now Alyson is asking when I think she’ll be able to drive. 🤣

Occupational Therapy has determined that Alyson's right hand is clenching when she is

sleeping. Something we know it did in the hospital, but did not realize it continued or

came back. Vandy made her a brace for her right hand to keep her fingers from doing

this and to straighten out her 5th digit which feels it the most when she is wearing the

brace. So far she is only wearing it for 30 minute increments during the day, as the

pinky isn't happy with it and needs to get used to it.

Tomorrow starts the first full week / 5 days of work for Alyson. She has eased into work

by only having to work 3 days Christmas week, 4 days New Years week, and now the

holidays are over. :-(

Have a great week and please keep the prayers going!
