Today Alyson went back to work… and full-time. I’m happy to say she rolled in on time!

They had a ridiculously HUGE luncheon for her return, which was decorated with what

they had bought for her planned departure prior to this fall. 😄 Alyson said it feels good to

be back! Although her building has handicap parking spaces and a ramp to get to the

entrance, none of the doors inside or out are automatic so she had a hard time getting

around.

At PT/OT they noticed the blisters on Alyson’s heels, which we haven’t figured out how

she got since she doesn’t really walk. These buggers have been around for a week with

little to no improvement. Another new lesson when it comes to a SCI, it slows down your

healing, so off we go to a wound specialist next week.

Aside from her wound concerns, Alyson worked on kneeling on both knees and then

alternated bringing one leg in front of her to a 90 degree angle like she was going to

stand up. This worked on her core strength and felt like a full body workout… “it was

really hard.”

Last Thursday Alyson got setup on the FES bike, which uses electro stimulation to move

her legs on the bike. Due to a system malfunction, she only had about 10 seconds where

it worked so hopefully they are able to get her set up quick tomorrow so there are no

more setbacks. Afterwards we got to attend the Predators hockey game in a suite.

Sweet!

Two more days of work and two more days of therapy (4 hours) to go before Christmas!
